We hold two meetings on Friday evening; a Newcomers Meeting and an Speaker Meeting.

The Newcomers Meeting, which meets at 7:00 PM, is intended for those who are new to Alcoholics Anonymous or those who aren't sure if they should attend AA. In this meeting we discuss the central elements of alcoholism as we have experienced it. In addition, we cover the core principles that will come to bear in a persons recovery from alcoholism.

Our purpose is to provide information about the illness of alcoholism, as A.A. understands it, in order that those who are new to A.A are clear on what our illness is, as well as assisting those who are unsure if they should attend A.A. with information by which they can make their own decision.

Also covered are the kinds of efforts necessary to begin and maintain recovery from alcoholism. This provides the new person with a basic understanding of the first few points of A.A.'s principles of recovery.

The Speakers Meeting

This group invites A.A. members from other groups, communities, states, and its own members to share their "story" with us at our weekly Speaker Meeting.

The AA members share, in a general way, what the experience of active alcoholism was like for them, what happened to bring them to Alcoholics Anonymous seeking help, and what their experience with the AA principles and fellowship has done in their lives.

Explicit details, profanity, or other inappropriate comments are strongly discouraged. It is intended that anyone should be able to listen to the recounting of the experience of our speakers without concern about its content. Often children attend this meeting with their parents and we wish to be respectful of their presence.

This meeting provides a window into the AA experience. Persons who are considering attendance at A.A. meetings can get a clear understanding of what they might expect by attending one or more of these meetings before making their decision.

Professionals who work with, or attempt to assist, those suffering from alcoholism can also find considerable information here. Both in personal experience and printed materials. We encourage their attendance in hopes of learning how we may cooperate with them in helping still suffering alcoholics.

Please click on the month for a complete list of the speakers for that month.

This meeting also has a social element to it. Since anyone can attend, family members often attend with the alcoholic. On the last Friday of each month we celebrate sobriety birthdays. For this occasion we have a cake for each person who has completed a certain length of sobriety and enjoy it following the meeting.
